Day 02: Anuradhapura Exploration

About Sigiriya

Sigiriya is located in the central province near the town of Dambulla, Sri Lanka. Sigiriya is also known as the rock fortress or The Lion Rock which was build by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE). It is 200 meters (660 ft) high. It is a significant place where tourists never miss to visit due its archaeological importance and attraction.

 

About Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is one of the major cities in Sri Lanka with historical value. It is located in the North Central Province, Sri Lanka which is also the first capital of Sri Lanka established in 4th century BC. It is once a major center of Sri Lankan civilization.

 

About Polonnaruwa

Poḷonnaruwa is located in North Central Province and its the main town of Polonnaruwa district. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka, and it has a significant historical value. It is also the second most ancient kingdom in Sri lanka.

 

About Kandy 

Kandy is located in the Central Province which is also a large city in Sri Lanka. Kandy is famous for the sacred Buddhist sites such as the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine and also the annual Kandy possession. It is also the last royal capital of Sri Lanka.
