During this season, they get the opportunity to enjoy the gaiety of the Esala Perahera which includes five processions with graceful dancers showing off their delicate movements in their bright costumes while an elaborately dressed tusker carries the casket with the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha.

Also, it’s not just the festivity, but the royal palace itself attracts numerous visitors from everywhere thanks to its ancient architectural beauty. The palace constructed during the Kandy era overlooks Nuwara wewa, a lake in the heart of the Kandy city built in the 1800s.The vibrant city of Colombo is filled with places to visit as well. In Sri Lanka places to visit maybe thousands but the handful in Colombo will give you an experience of the cultural mix within the country and the Dutch, Portuguese and British influences on the local architecture.
